FFXIV PotD: Floor 50 Bossfight (Solo)
Apologies for the Skype bleeps on the first 2 minutes. As always I forget to mute all my progrems before recording ^^'
Blue Thunder (Odin) vs Edda Blackbosom
Spoilers ahead for those who don't know anything:
Palace of the Dead is an optional dungeon in Final Fantasy XIV. It's a Rogue-like dungeon in which each floor is randomized, making each run through it different. The Floors are divided in a set of 10, with the last one having a boss fight. There are a total of 100 Floors for the "main" story of the dungeon and 100 more for those who want a challenge.
Inside this dungeon your gear is rendered useless, and so you're given a special aetherpool weapon and armor that only work inside the dungeon. Your character class level will also be set to 1 when you enter on the first floor. Your weapons, armor and class level are saved only in the palace each time you clear a floor with a boss. Inside the Palace you might also come across several treasure chests that can hold special items exclusive to the Palace and only usable inside, as well as other rewards you might take outside. Silver and Golden chests are the ones you want to search the most. Silver chests will level up your gear and Golden chests hold inside Pomander you may use for your benefit inside the Palace. There are a lot of variety of pomanders: some boost your character or downright transform it, others reveal the map on the floor or disarm all its traps, and some increase the chance of having more treasure chests on the next floor you visit.
About Edda Blackbosom.
She was originaly an NPC adventurer just like your character at the beginning of the story in A Realm Reborn. She, alongside her fiance named Avere and 2 more adventurers wanted to make a name for themselves and be famous, however her party is not successful in one of their missions, and their leader is slain. The 2 members blame Edda for her incompetence as a healer and are grossed out by the fact she's keeping her fiance's severed head with her. Later on you would meet Edda again, and would try to regain courage after hearing your exploits and become a better adventurer.
That is the last time you hear from her until in a later patch of the 2.x version of ARR. In this patch you meet one of Edda's party members again, to which he informs you he got an invitation for her wedding, and that the place of the wedding is inside the dungeon in which her fiance met his terrible fate. Traversing the dungeon you discover that Edda was consumed by grief after the last time you saw her and that let her into madness, practicing necromancy. Once you reach the dungeon you face against her and her husband's severed head, now transformed into a creature of the void, planning to use your body as a means to bring her beloved fully back. After destroying her fiance's head, she panics and backs slowly, the candles on the floor setting her robes on fire before she slips into a bottomless pit, with a creepy smile as she fades into the dark.
Now you meet her one last time inside the Palace of the Dead for one final confrontation.
I gotta say, this fight is way easier than the one at Floor 40, in which the boss stuns you for 10 seconds without any chance of avoiding that and if some of the adds in that fight are still alive by that point, you can most likely kiss your ass goodbye.
This one was a cakewalk. I may not be the best Scholar around, as proven by the fact I can't keep my dots at 100% uptime when I space out, but still I get the job done :P
